Abstract
The etiology, diagnosis, and orthodontic approach for the treatment of an impacted mandibular canines have less well established compared to the maxillary canine. From the orthodontic aspect, the patient¡¯s age and root development of the impacted canine at the timing of diagnosis would be important predictors for successful orthodontic traction. In this case report, we introduced 2 cases of successful traction of mandibular impacted canines in adolescent and elderly patients who had completed root formation. For these patients with the increased complexity of treatment, the orthodontic traction mechanics should be carefully considered to reduce the periodontal side effects and respond appropriately to unexpected decrease in traction rate during the treatment.
